Akseki: heating suited to a mountain climate
Akseki is one of Antalya's high-elevation districts in the Taurus mountains. Winters here are cold and snowy, and there is no natural gas network. Heating has traditionally relied heavily on wood/coal stoves and radiator boiler systems. Correct sizing for a cold climate
An air-source heat pump's efficiency (COP) drops as outdoor temperature falls. In a district like Akseki where winter stays cold for extended periods, we size the unit against the coldest days the district sees, not the average winter temperature. Where needed, we plan a hybrid setup with an electric backup heater or the existing boiler, so the home stays warm even on the coldest days.
Traditional stone houses: insulation first
Traditional stone construction is a significant part of Akseki's housing stock. Walls may be thick, but roof and window insulation is often weak, which increases heat loss. If the owner doesn't want to remove the stove entirely, we can also set up the heat pump as the primary system with the stove kept as backup.
